TE WHĀRIKI – OUR NATIONAL ECE CURRICULUM:
“Te Whāriki is underpinned by a vision for tamariki who are competent and confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society.” Ministry of Education, New Zealand.
Educators in partnership with tamariki, their families, communities and the Visiting Teacher will plan and implement a programme that follows our national ECE curriculum of Te Whāriki, strengthening the child’s knowledge and experiences and empowering them to be lifelong learners.
Home Grown Kids offers fun, free, regular playgroups run by our Visiting Teachers. Individualised to suit the tamariki in each group, they’re an opportunity to interact with other children and engage in activities such as music and movement, art and craft and messy play in a bigger or different space.
Getting out into the community is fun. Educators take tamariki to the library, gymnastics, music groups and trips to local parks and beaches.
Our Visiting Teachers also arrange regular exciting outings into the community to extend tamariki’s focus. These include trips to the fire station, art galleries, farm visits and the zoo.
