Kasumi is married to Scott and they have two children. She migrated from Japan in 2001 and studied Childcare at Aoraki Polytechnic. Kasumi has been an Educator since 2012 and has completed her level 4 Certificate in Childcare.
Kasumi has a lovely home close to Caroline Bay with the play area in the front which is private and fully fenced. There is a play hut, two large wooden cubes and planks to climb and slides and steps to go up and down. A concrete path to ride bikes on or draw with chalk. There is also a child size sink to wash hands outside, a picnic table to eat kai or do art activities.
As you head up onto the patio there are hooks provided for children’s bags. You walk into an open plan living area where there is a large cube wall unit with resources available for the children to engage with. Kasumi has a play based learning environment with a child size table and chairs for children to use for art activities and crafts.
ACTIVITIES THEY PROVIDE:
Kasumi provides a wide range of activities inside and outside. She has a wonderful creative side and enjoys sharing this with the children in doing wonderful art and crafts. There are games, large blocks, duplo, books to enjoy reading and a child size kitchen with lots of props available for the children.
Kasumi also attends weekly music and movement, playgroup and outings including going to the parks, feeding ducks and story time at the library. On a regular basis she meets up with other Educators to do activities. This provides opportunities to develop and engage in larger group environments that help with the transition into school and to develop friendships.
As you can see there is a great balance of quieter times at home and getting out and about in the community.
Kasumi believes in providing a warm, caring and fun filled learning environment for children where they feel happy, comfortable and secure in a trusting, caring home life setting.
