EXPERIENCE
Hi, my name is Wendy. My experience with children begins with helping to raise my niece after her father passed away. She has since grown into a wonderful adult who has given me 5 grandchildren. I started my ‘official’ entry into ECE in 1992 and have worked in a variety of early learning settings and kindergartens before starting my Home Based journey.
HOME ENVIRONMENT
I have a fully fenced yard with a challenging climbing are, also a variety of outside equipment such as sandpit, mud kitchen, outside music wall, balls, bikes etc all add to the physical environment children experience. There are so many opportunities for physical play and for imaginative and social interaction too.
With a good indoor/outdoor flow, inside children experience a well resources space for all age groups. With the first station next door there is often some excitement going on.
There is a small dog who is very used to smaller people having grown up in this environment.
ACTIVITIES PROVIDED – COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
If we hear the alarm sounds we go out and wave to the fire trucks as they go out from next door. Taking the dog for walks down the river close by gives opportunities to explore forest and bush areas.
We have a local park just around the block and we like to attend playgroups, music groups and gym.
The children and I pick lemons off the tree and deliver them to elderly neighbours learning about empathy, respect and tolerance.
MY CHILDCARE PHILOSOPHY
Teaching children to respect themselves and others including Mother Earth. I aim to grab those teachable moments with children and run with them.
